The history and meaning of our society name is a simple one; on a hungover Saturday (December 23rd 2017), during a memorable chat outside Dan Lowery's Tavern, Stephen O'Regan was discussing with Shane Burns and Aidan Ware how Finbarr Burns is the ultimate cantankerous old man. In the height of craic and a slip of the tongue, Steve stated Finny was the crattiest (cranky & ratty) man ever, which is true and the word has stuck ever since!
The CratTee Golf Society came into being on August 22nd 2018 at a meeting in BarBarella when the founding members, Stephen O'Regan, David Stuart, Finbarr Burns, Shane Moloney and Declan Burns approved and voted in the first version of the society's Constitution. Based in Cork City, the society was founded with the aim of maintaining a friendly and sociable atmosphere to promote the game of golf among its members, to arrange a number of golf outings throughout each year, its members receiving a specific Society handicap outside the official GUI Handicap system and much more!
The society's home club is Castlemartyr Golf Club. It is a vibrant society which is home to an array of members hailing from Clonakilty to Guernsey, Glanmire to the LGR and everywhere in between!
